I'm a Jukebox

I’m a jukebox

sitting in the corner of your favorite bar

for a quarter I can read your mind

just by the songs that you play

I’m quiet during the day

but at night I have the most to say

I’m a jukebox

one of the last reminders of the glory days

when men gathered around to drown their sorrows

or caught up with a long lost friend

who happened to be in town

tomorrow I might be thrown into a scrap pile

forgotten like the marquee signs and neon lights

but tonight I play my songs proudly

I hear of mini jukeboxes on tables in the diners

being played by love struck teens

but I’m content here in my corner

watching the patrons coming and going

they play my songs over and over

it’s such sweet sorrow

that a quarter can cheer them up

when they’re feeling blue

I’m a jukebox

one of the last reminders of the glory days

when men gathered around to drown their sorrows

or caught up with a long lost friend

who happened to be in town

tomorrow I might be thrown into a scrap pile

forgotten like the marquee signs and neon lights

but tonight I play my songs proudly

So put a quarter in my slot so I can play you a tune

because tomorrow I might be gone

like the saloons.

The Demon’s Dance

Black tie, white shirt, polished shoes

hallowed out eyes, red and orange flames fly from his fingertips

tonight is one of Hell and fright

for those who sold their souls for fortune and fame

he greets each guest by their full names

as they enter the gates of Hades

The guests take their place in the flames

not knowing what to expect

Boom! An explosion of fire and smoke

and Satan himself appears

Demons rouse up their fiddles and violins

others join in by clapping their hands

ordering their guests to dance

for it’s going to get hot and dark

This is their fate

they chose to dance with the demons

and play in the fire

they tempted the devil one too many times

so he took their number and souls

There’s no escape, the gates are now locked

they scream as the gnashing of teen begin

and the flames start to surround them

for all of eternity

they will be doing the demons dance.

I’m Better Off

I’m going to out on a limb

and say you don’t love me anymore

I’m not blind, I can see the signs

just come out and say what’s on your mind

I’ll leave out your front door with a clear understanding

I’m better off knowing the truth

I’d rather be free and alone

then end up blowing my cool and acting like a fool

when I see you with your new lover

You don’t need to tell me anything about him

it’s none of my business

Hell he may be a great guy

and take you farther than I ever could

it’s like I can read your mind

I know you’re waiting for the right time to tell me

but I already know the truth

I’ve known it for awhile

by the different smile you wear

Honesty and the truth isn’t a sin

I’m not going to put up a fight

loving you is a privilege and not a right

if I wanted you forever

I should have put a ring on your finger

guess I waited too long to make up my mind

or was it you who wanted a change

either way

I’m better off knowing the truth, I’d rather be free and alone

then end up blowing my cool and acting like a fool.

Gypsy Rain

Gypsy rain fall on me tonight

I'm blue as blue as I can be

whiskey don't lift me up

like you do

it only brings me down

gypsy rain fall on me tonight

Gypsy rain you put a spell on me

hypnotizing me with every drop

I can't stop, it pulls me in

makes me act like a fool all night long

gypsy rain you put a spell on me

Gypsy rain knows my pain

as it travels on and on

not wanted anywhere

my tears flow with every passing cloud

gypsy rain knows my pain

Gypsy rain fall on me tonight

I'm blue as blue as I can be

whiskey don't lift me up

like you do

it only brings me down

gypsy rain fall on me tonight.
